Facebook being investigated in Canada
The social networking site Facebook is under investigation from Canada's privacy commission, which found the website had been giving confusing and incomplete information to subscribers.
The Canadian Privacy Commission found Facebook disregarded privacy issues even though it had said it would safeguard users’ confidentiality.
More than 200 million people actively use Facebook, including about 12 million in Canada.
Facebook's policy of holding on to personal information after their accounts had been terminated was cited as one area that had breached Canada's privacy laws.
Facebook was also criticised for distributing users' personal details to 950,000 developers in 180 countries who provide applications for the site.
